My favorite season hands down for wedding colors would be fall! Who else is in love with fall wedding colors?!?

The smell of crisp fall air, the changing colors, layering clothes, hot apple cider, I love it all! Speaking of fall colors …. fall weddings are definitely becoming more popular and I am more than OK with that!! I am in LOVE with the color combination of cranberry, orange and ivory! They are so perfect together. Look at these great examples Elegant Wedding Invites put in one gorgeous image.

There is nothing like oxblood and plum accents colors for a fall wedding. This wedding bouquet is the most perfect example!

Champagne Toast Wedding Inspiration!

Classic styles and color palettes are classics for a reason – they are timeless and harmonious, and just simply beautiful! The combination of creamy ivory, pink champagne and sparkling silver & gold is one that will never go out of style, and can be adjusted to suit so many different personalities and seasons throughout the year.

I thought with this being the most festive time of the year a Champagne color board would be perfect! Enjoy!

Not Your Mother's Vanilla Wedding Cake, 20 Cake Flavors to Consider!

Mocha– For the coffee lovers, this combo of espresso and chocolate flavors is a clear winner.

Red Velvet– Although this trend experienced a serious rise in popularity a couple of years ago, this has been a classic cake for quite some time due to its subtle cocoa flavor and rich cream cheese frosting.

Italian Cream– This delicious cake (and my personal favorite) is a blend of almonds (or pecans), coconut, and a touch of buttermilk for a nice tanginess. And when frosted with a mascarpone-based frosting, this cake is positively perfect!

Funfetti– One of the most popular trends this year, the most beloved cake of our grade school days has made a comeback.Definitely fun!
Coconut– A coconut cake with fluffy coconut icing is just about the prettiest cake ever.

Hummingbird–A Southern staple for decades, this unique cake combines banana, pineapple, pecans, and spices. Usually paired with a cream cheese frosting.

Chocolate Chip–Fun, but still formal, a chocolate chip cake and be paired with just about anything for a filling and icing. Try incorporating flavors of orange, raspberry, toffee, or caramel.

Carrot–Loving carrot cake is like loving Christmas fruitcake. Is it everybody’s favorite? No. But if you adore the combo of rich, moist carrot cake and decadent cream cheese frosting, you should go for it.

Lemon–This citrusy gem is ideal for a summer wedding, and can be accompanied by a wide variety of frostings, from key lime to milk chocolate.

Orange Blossom–It’s definitely one of the most delicate citrus wedding cakes.  Keep it simple with a lightly scented vanilla frosting or glaze.

Grasshopper– It’s like the power of the Andes mint in a cake. Mint and chocolate is a winning combination.

Spice– Perfect for autumn weddings, this soul-satisfying cake goes best with a rustic theme.

Pink Champagne– For those wanting to up the femininity quotient on their wedding day, this pink confection will suit you just fine! A great cake for a multi-layered ombre effect.

German Chocolate–Not just for groom’s cakes any longer, this dessert favorite will make your guests very happy.

Amaretto– Disaronno references aside, these cakes are refined, unique, and very addictive (you will sneak two pieces, trust me). Fantastic when paired with an apricot filling.

White Chocolate– When you want a perfectly white cake, but with something beyond vanilla flavoring, turn to white chocolate. Use a classic combo like raspberry, or go for a richer option like milk chocolate.

Peanut Butter– You can complement this cake with a variety of fillings, such as banana cream, dark chocolate ganache, or a simple custard.

Irish Cream– Wish you could extend cocktail hour? Try a Irish Cream flavored cake.

Nutella– Anyone who has tried this delectable spread knows how fantastic it is when chocolate and hazelnut come together.

Marble–Combine the best of both worlds with a chocolate and vanilla cake. Or blend together other flavors, such as peanut butter and chocolate or white chocolate and lemon. Just make sure that the colors are different enough to show off the marble effect.

So be creative and LET THEM EAT CAKE!!

Spring 2014 Wedding Color Trends!

A spring wedding evokes the idea of fresh new love, brightly colored flowers and all the beauty of a spring day. Traditional spring weddings often stick to tried-and-true pastel color schemes. However, while pastels are beautiful, there are many elements to consider when choosing the color scheme for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

If you haven’t picked a specific color scheme yet, check this color palette from Pantone with 2014 spring color trends.

I've added some wedding inspiration boards here which can give you some inspiration. Be bold and creative, but most importantly...BE YOU!

All About the Sweets! Details and Decor

When planning a sweet table, the goal is to enhance the theme of your wedding, not detract from it. For example, if you are having a very sleek and minimalist wedding in muted tones, you don’t want to have a lavish and brightly colored table dripping with candy necklaces and giant lollipops. If your wedding theme doesn’t fit the traditionally nostalgic sweet table, try a monochromatic presentation in white or one of your wedding colors.

Before you determine how many candies and pastries to buy for your sweet table, first decide what you want the layout to be. The goal should be a fairly symmetrical design. I love the look of glass jars in varying sizes and shapes. Remember, sweet tables are not necessarily a buffet for guests. You shouldn’t think in terms of how much each person will enjoy, but rather what will maximize your presentation.

Above all, this is a chance to incorporate an extra dash of fun to your wedding reception.

American Flag Wedding Dress? Yes or NO!!

Just for fun I thought I would share with you some patriotic wedding dresses I came across today, just in case the mood of the 4th really over took you!!

Please read the rest after you stop laughing hysterically... All joking aside, while I don't recommend wearing a flag on your wedding day, there all all sorts of beautiful ways to incorporate a patriotic color scheme to your wedding. Consider a patriotic theme if you are in the military or marrying a military groom. Also consider a patriotic color scheme if you are getting married on a holiday weekend such as July 4th, Memorial Day, or Veteran's Day. Think about adding accents of red, white and blue to lots of your wedding details. A Patriotic Wedding!

While browsing wedding blogs for ideas for this Patriotic Wedding Inspiration Board, I fell in love with so many of the the patriotic themes popping up. Who know there were so many people interested in this type of wedding. It is certainly possible to take this theme too far but it can definitely be done tastefully. 

This patriotic themed wedding inspiration board was created for creative ways to incorporate the "red, white & blue" into your patriotic wedding. 

Making your wedding have a little patriotic flare doesn't have to be over the top and cluttered, it can be sweet and simple by adding little touches.

How to Beat the Heat at Your Outdoor Event!

Summertime weddings and parties outdoors can be scorchers. Cold, refreshing beverages can help your guest beat the heat, but you might want to try a “cooling station”. 

Cooling stations are a wedding trend that I believe any hostess having an outdoor event in the summer should follow. 

Here are a few of my favorite cooling station ideas and some other ideas to keep guest cool. 

• Fans and parasols: Turn your wedding programs into fans, or have fans readily available as favors, like these from Dengra Designs. Or set out a basket full of cheap paper parasols.

• Dress code: Dress in breathable fabrics and inform your guests to dress for the heat — shorts, flip flops, light cotton shirts, sun dresses etc. 

• Hydration station. Have water, iced tea, and/or lemonade readily available. Have bottled water on ice throughout the event is a great idea also.

• Hose it down! Spray down any concrete, stone, or brick areas with a garden hose to it cool off.
• Rent tents. If there's no natural shade to be found, you can rent large tents to provide an escape from the sun.
• Misters. You can get yourself an outdoor mist cooling system, hook it up to your garden hose, and set these fabulous misters up anywhere.

• Frosty treats. Treat your guests to cool treats like popsicles or these awesome DIY ice pops from Seasonal Cooking. Or try turning your cocktails into cocktails.

• Cooling Stations: 

1. Chill small spritzer bottles in the refrigerator before setting them out for guests. Invite each guest to take one to keep themselves cool while at the party. Remember to buy the fine mist spritzers that “mist” rather than “squirt!” 
2. Set out handkerchiefs for guest to dip into iced lemon water.

Mismatches Bridesmaid Dresses

Non-matching bridesmaid dresses are a very popular choice among brides — encouraging bridesmaids to wear something that generally coordinates. Nowadays, bridesmaids can wear a dress that suits their own unique figure, budget, and personality. It might sound odd, but it can be done and it can look amazing! Honestly, I love the way it looks. Plus, it’s likely something they’ll  wear again (none of that 27 Dresses business).

However, executing this trend can be a little tricky. It is important to remember that there must be an underlying theme that pulls the entire group into a cohesive look.

Here are some ideas and tips:

Different Shades:

The easiest colors to mismatch are neutrals. They tend to look extra chic, and it's easier to avoid color clashes. Keep in mind that the lighter the shade of the dresses, the better the overall group look. For a more eclectic look, you can opt to have bridesmaids wear both short and long dresses.

Different Styles:

If you're very particular about color, an easy way to mismatch your bridesmaids is to utilize the same color and/or fabric but with different styles. This way your bridesmaids can choose the shape and neckline that best compliments their body type.

Different Colors:

For weddings with playful colors, switch it up with different colored dresses. Match them to your wedding palette to add a little oomph to your bridal party.

Same Color, Different Dress Styles:

Keeping the same exact color works well for brides who are determined to have a particular color for their bridesmaids. Give your bridesmaids a couple of fabric samples in the color you would like to wear and let them pick their own dresses. You may also want to include a few notes about length, or fabric.

Same Dress, Different Accessories:

If you’ve picked a dress that all your bridesmaids are happy with, why not try accessorizing each bridesmaid differently with different colored shoes, earrings, cardigans, rings, necklaces or different bouquets for each.

Free Style:

If you're the type of bride with extremely stylish friends, this is the option for you. There are no ground rules because your trendy 'maids would probably break them anyway. Mix and matching different bridesmaids dresses are a great option if you feel like your girls have a great sense of style. Though you are giving them the freedom to choose what to wear on your wedding, you can always provide some guidance about your wedding theme to keep the look together.

The most important thing to do is to communicate. Let your bridesmaids know what your ultimate vision looks like (make inspiration boards, send them color palettes and fabrics, etc.) and have fun with it!

The Beauty of a Neutral Color Scheme!

I love a bright, colorful wedding as much as the next person, but I am 100% a believer in neutral color schemes. I think it goes back to the idea of “less is more” – there’s just something so beautiful about the absence of color. For this bride, adding a touch of blush pink and soft yellow just completed this look of understated elegance.

Colored Wedding Dresses – Would You Wear One?

Jessica Biel wowed the wedding world last year when she married Justin Timberlake in a stunning pink Giambattista Valli gown and it seems she has started a trend with that pink wedding dress. Colored wedding dresses are on trend for Fall 2013 weddings. Trends show soft heavenly colors are popular. Creamy taupe, cloudy blues and pink blush pastel wedding gowns were the alternatives to the classic white wedding dress.

But is it appropriate to wear a colored wedding dress?  Before I give you my personal answer, here’s a traditional rhyme that talks about the wedding dress colors and their meaning:

Married in White, you have chosen right,

Married in Blue, your love will always be true,

Married in Pearl, you will live in a whirl,

Married in Brown, you will live in town,

Married in Red, you will wish yourself dead,

Married in Yellow, ashamed of your fellow,

Married in Green, ashamed to be seen,

Married in Pink, your spirit will sink,

Married in Grey, you will go far away,

Married in Black, you will wish yourself back.

Queen Victoria has been credited with starting the western tradition of white bridal gowns, although she was not the first royal to be married in white. Since then white has been the accepted color for a wedding.  It’s been said that blue or silver was the typical color for royalty. But she looked so very lovely, pure, and innocent in white that women followed suit.

 I think wearing a colored dress is the perfect opportunity to really let your personality show. Just because colors have their own meaning, doesn’t mean that you have to follow it.  That color doesn’t have to apply to you.  You create the meaning of that particular color to you and no one else.  What people think doesn’t matter.  As long as you can accept that, you can have whatever wedding dress color that you please. 

Me personally if I were to do it over again, PINK it would be! My only suggestion, go for something not so PROM-ish.
