Red is such a beautiful color for a wedding. Red is a symbol of love and passion. Whether you pair it with traditional white or cheery robin’s egg blue. Here are a few ways to add a touch of cherry to your wedding day. I have also seen a lot of red and pink weddings lately, and I’m a total fan.

We all know that I love color. I love it! I love talking about it and thinking about it and putting together palettes and reading about it and planning and imagining it.

Here’s my little take on Pantone’s 2013 Fall Fashion Color Report: 

My guess for fall weddings is palettes of:
Purples and Pinks like Acai and Vivacious
Mixed greens like Emerald, Linden Green and Deep Lichen Green
Bright and bold like Samba, Koi and Vivacious
Mystical and Magical with Mykonos Blue, Emerald, Acai and Turbulence
Naturals paired with a deep bold like Carafe, Deep Lichen Green, Linden Green and Samba

Mismatches Bridesmaid Dresses

Non-matching bridesmaid dresses are a very popular choice among brides — encouraging bridesmaids to wear something that generally coordinates. Nowadays, bridesmaids can wear a dress that suits their own unique figure, budget, and personality. It might sound odd, but it can be done and it can look amazing! Honestly, I love the way it looks. Plus, it’s likely something they’ll  wear again (none of that 27 Dresses business).

However, executing this trend can be a little tricky. It is important to remember that there must be an underlying theme that pulls the entire group into a cohesive look.

Here are some ideas and tips:

Different Shades:

The easiest colors to mismatch are neutrals. They tend to look extra chic, and it's easier to avoid color clashes. Keep in mind that the lighter the shade of the dresses, the better the overall group look. For a more eclectic look, you can opt to have bridesmaids wear both short and long dresses.

Different Styles:

If you're very particular about color, an easy way to mismatch your bridesmaids is to utilize the same color and/or fabric but with different styles. This way your bridesmaids can choose the shape and neckline that best compliments their body type.

Different Colors:

For weddings with playful colors, switch it up with different colored dresses. Match them to your wedding palette to add a little oomph to your bridal party.

Same Color, Different Dress Styles:

Keeping the same exact color works well for brides who are determined to have a particular color for their bridesmaids. Give your bridesmaids a couple of fabric samples in the color you would like to wear and let them pick their own dresses. You may also want to include a few notes about length, or fabric.

Same Dress, Different Accessories:

If you’ve picked a dress that all your bridesmaids are happy with, why not try accessorizing each bridesmaid differently with different colored shoes, earrings, cardigans, rings, necklaces or different bouquets for each.

Free Style:

If you're the type of bride with extremely stylish friends, this is the option for you. There are no ground rules because your trendy 'maids would probably break them anyway. Mix and matching different bridesmaids dresses are a great option if you feel like your girls have a great sense of style. Though you are giving them the freedom to choose what to wear on your wedding, you can always provide some guidance about your wedding theme to keep the look together.

The most important thing to do is to communicate. Let your bridesmaids know what your ultimate vision looks like (make inspiration boards, send them color palettes and fabrics, etc.) and have fun with it!

EGGstra Special Easter Wedding Inspiration!

I love the soft delicate pastel rainbow palette of colors you typically think of with Easter. An Easter wedding to me exudes all the beauty and fun of spring. Weddings with an Easter theme are undeniably charming and never fail to impress!

Pastel colors are essential when creating a cohesive Easter wedding theme. Pale pinks, yellows, greens, purples and blues all work together in a very bright, springy and festive way. Your table setting is the perfect way to incorporate different textures and different linens into creating a fun but elegant Easter wedding reception.

Tulips are by far my favorite flower. I love them for their beauty and simplicity. They are a must-have for any wedding event in the Spring but especially around the Easter holiday. They come in a variety of colors and pastel shades will bring in the cohesiveness of the Easter theme. You can save a little in decorating costs as most churches are adorned with fresh tulips or lilies for this sacred holiday.

The beauty of any wedding lies in the details and bunnies are naturally associated with the Easter holiday in a non-religious sense. Martha Stewart has a great DIY tutorial on how to fold napkins in the shape of bunny ears. Again this is a fun yet elegant way to bring your theme into something as simple as your place settings.

Everyone loves a good Easter egg hunt but with these place markers, the only thing your guests will be hunting for is their seats. By incorporating egg filled bird’s nests into your seating chart and plans could put your wedding completely over the top in a very memorable way.

I’ve shared with y’all my love for the Rainbow Theme trend, so of course I love the idea of bringing different shades of pastel colors into the attire worn by the wedding party. Easter eggs are often times died in multiple pastel colors and what better way to incorporate the ideas of Easter then to adorn your bridesmaids each with a color of their own. This is a fun way for each bridesmaid to feel unique while staying in your theme.

Raspberry and Teal Wedding Inspiration

Remember being a kid and sticking to the rule that red was for girls and blue was for boys? Well, that must explain why together they make such a harmonious pair when used as a wedding color theme. 

Raspberry and teal (that’s what we adults call red and blue) complement each other so beautifully; they’re an inviting choice for late summer weddings and one of my favorite color pairings!

Lucky in Love! A St. Patty's Day Wedding

If you have an Irish heritage or you just think St. Patrick's Day would be a lucky day to have your wedding, you are probably at a loss on how to plan a classy, elegant Irish celebration that is fitting to your wedding day dreams. Well, here are some great ideas to help you make your St. Patty's Day wedding as lucky as a pot of gold.

When you are picking colors for your wedding, green may not be on the top of your list. But, when you are planning a St. Patrick's Day wedding, green is the best color to use for this theme. The plus side is that there are so many different shades of green to pick from a shamrock green to a dark, hunter green, so finding a shade that looks great on everyone in your bridal party shouldn't be a problem. You may even want to mix it up and use a bunch of different shades of green that complement each other.

When you are choosing a design for your wedding invitations, you may want to go with a Celtic knot or cross as the focal point of the design. You could also incorporate the Celtic knot or cross into the rest of your ceremony maybe in a wax seal for your programs or as the decoration for your wedding cake. You may be able to find some napkin holders that have a symbol of the knot or cross on them. However, you choose to use it, it is definitely one of those extra little details that will pull everything together.

When selecting the music for your ceremony, some traditional Irish music would be a perfect touch to your special day. Not only is Irish music romantic and beautiful, but also its instrumental ballads will add just the right touch to take your St. Patrick's Day wedding from clash to class.

When choosing the foods for your reception, don't feel like you have to go all out with the green food coloring. Why not take a different approach and serve traditional Irish dishes such as Irish Stew, Bacon and Cabbage, Dublin Coddle, Irish Bread Pudding, and Soda Bread. Of course, no Irish wedding celebration would be complete without some stout Irish Beer or green ale! 

A great idea for wedding favors would be to purchase some four-leaf clovers and give them to your guests. Another interesting twist on the "green" would be to give them small potted plants with your names and wedding date on the side or seed packets (like this fun DIY project). This is something they can take home and plant and it symbolizes your growing love for each other.

When you are decorating you could use greenery, white Christmas lights, and candles. This is sure to set the right mood for your ceremony and reception. Don't be afraid to use colors like white and yellow to help contrast the green, and to incorporate those colors into your floral arrangements. Maybe you and your groom could stand in front of a huge Celtic cross wrapped in greenery and Christmas lights while you say your vows? 

Whatever you choose, don't be afraid to get creative and do some research to pull lots of ideas from traditional Irish weddings.

Wedding trends come and go and often as the seasons. Lots of brides love to follow the trends that are out of the ordinary, and Spring weddings are the perfect way to do that. From the décor to the attire, Spring weddings aren’t just about pastel colors, lots of flowers, and formal occasions. Now, there are new ideas that will make your big day stand out from the typical Spring or Summer wedding. Below are some unique ideas that might interest you.

Greenhouses: Greenhouses are a great place to hold a wedding ceremony. They are usually already stocked with greenery for a beautiful setting, or even if they are not, the sheer glass surroundings make for something really special and whimsical. Another plus is the practicality. It is like having an outdoor wedding but without the threat of bad weather on your wedding day. Where do you find a greenhouse to rent? Browse online or search your local florists or farmers markets.

Flowerless: Yes, you heard it right… a spring wedding without flowers. Many couples are opting for eco-friendly weddings these days and flowers are something they don’t feel are necessary to make for stunning wedding décor. Some great substitute ideas are greenery and/or branches decorated with twinkle lights. You can leave them in their natural form or paint them to match the scheme of your chosen colors. Recycled paper can be used to make floral-like decorations as well. Also, candles and more candles are a big trend. Candle centerpieces can be just as pretty and are far less expensive than fresh flowers.

Casual Chic: Casual chic spring weddings are exactly as they sound. Out with the formal weddings and in with casual weddings such as a backyard wedding, lakeside wedding, park wedding and more. With today’s economic times, couples are cutting down on the guest list and making spring weddings more intimate, yet keeping them chic by using some of the above ideas. Close family and friends can feel special this way, and the best thing… less stress!

Forget the colors! Gasp! No color scheme at a spring wedding? Yes, it can be done and is being done. Right down to the wedding gown, brides are choosing colored wedding dresses, mismatched bridesmaids dresses, or even keeping an all-white and ivory theme for a fabulous vintage springtime look. 

Don’t let traditional rules bog you down. Just keep it fun, it's YOUR day!
