Are you planning a wedding and are you a true football fan, like me? Some might think that a football themed wedding would be tacky but as the following images show, it can be loads of fun and far from tacky.
Start with some really cute Save the Dates like these!
Why not get married on a football field? Pro and college stadiums allow access for private events, what a perfect and unique venue. If those aren't available or you don't have one locally, check into the local high school football field as a possible option. Something else to think about, certainly not for everyone, but imagine pulling out an astroturf aisle runner with all the yard markers painted in white. Now that's fun!
If you are
looking for a creative guest book have guest sign a customized football jersey, regulation-sized
NFL Football, or a combination of the two that you can
frame as keepsakes from your wedding day.
Serve tailgating food as appetizers during the reception that
reflect the types of food served during football games such
as nachos, pretzels or try mini sliders served with a small mug of beer! Too cute! Check out my Are You Ready for Some Football board on Pinterest for some yummy football foods.
Cakes and desserts, get your cake baker to decorate your wedding cake with a little football mishap and serve these delicious chocolate dipped football strawberries.

The wedding party could be
introduced like the starting lineup of a pro team before game time
including height, weight (ladies may have an issue with this) and city of origin information. Your team
fight song should also play a prominent role in the entertainment
throughout the evening. Want a
little more team spirit?
When you are being announced, step out in your team's jersey. Make it a little easier for your groom to throw the garter and buy a team ball for the garter toss.
For your wedding program, you need to step it up a notch and write a welcome packet to your guests in the form of a game program.
The centerpieces on your tables will bring your reception room
together. It will be the immediate focal point of all guests
and should reflect your theme and colors as well. A simple flower
arrangement is not going to cut it if you are going for a truly football
themed wedding. Here's a few simple, not too over the top ideas.
A fun play on seating is a football themed seating chart. Name your tables
after players on the bride and groom's team and then with the white
laces write down each guest's name. This is such an easy DIY project and
will easily score you that PAT in this game. Don't forget about the
favors, give your guests ribbon wands or
spirit poms. They can also use these to cheer the bride and groom when
they depart for the evening.
One way to
guarantee a truly memorable wedding experience would be through your engagement and wedding photos. If you aren’t having your ceremony or reception at a stadium, consider taking pictures at your local high school stadium. What do you call a bride playing tackle football on her wedding day, in her dress? Fierce.
However you choose to display your life as a couple to your guests, be sure to have fun and personalize your day to suit you. GO TEAM!
Would this wedding theme score a touchdown in your book? If so what team would you choose for your wedding? Let me know in the comments section below!!
I love the cake so cute!!! Couples can even do this without incorporating football into the rest of the wedding if they want. It adds some of the grooms touch to the cake definitely. For more help planning your wedding go to www.myweddingbagonline.com
